Hoyam is an experienced counselor with more than five years of experience in the nonprofit sector, specifically in development and coordination of counseling services for multicultural and diverse populations including refugees, teens, children and families in group and individual settings. Hoyam’s past experience also includes providing comprehensive mental health, crisis counseling, and conflict resolution services. Hoyam also previously worked as a home/community-based child and adolescent therapist working primarily with the Department of Children and Family Services.
Hoyam received her BS in Counseling Psychology from the Ahfad University for Women in Khartoum, Sudan. She then received her Masters of Community Counseling from Argosy University in Chicago as well as her masters in Community Health and Health Management from Ruppecht-Karls Heidelberg University in Heidelberg, Germany.
