CHOOSING THE RIGHT CAREER - SUCCESS STORY OF A NURSE
My name is Tenzin Dechen and I am presently working as a nurse at Max hospital, Pitampura. I completed my B.Sc. Nursing from Jamia Hamdard with a Gold Medal.

When I was a kid I used to have different aims. Every year I would decide to become something new but then when I got into Class IX, I decided to make a serious decision about my career. I decided to go for Nursing. I got the inspiration from the school nurses. I took Science after Class X and applied for a degree in Nursing. I attended an entrance exam and interview based on which I was selected.

My initial year at Jamia was a tough one. I was the only Tibetan in my class. Though there were two Tibetan seniors who helped me a lot but I always felt like an alien in my class. I used to wonder how I would manage to complete my four years. But then every year started becoming more and more interesting and I gradually learnt how to deal with everything. Now when I look back, I really miss the part of my life spent in Jamia. There was a great spirit of competition among my batch mates which always motivated me to do something and our batch is still famous for that. And if I say today that am successful, it’s to some extent because of my batch mates.

Young Tibetans must have this spirit within them. Everyone has a talent, you just need to identify and bring it out. When we do something we love doing everyday is then full of excitement and enjoyment. So wake up! Lets make our roots strongly grounded so that one fine day when we get our country back we are able to take up the responsibilities we have towards our country. BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS!
