Jobs in
Architecture
involve working with the creation, building and/ or restoration of houses. Jobs in
Planning
involve the organisation of the structure of the structure of an area, town or city – planning includes, for example, the layout of houses and parks, the creation and location of accessible community buildings and the organisation of rubbish collection.
For both types of jobs you will need to have a strong interest in buildings and in creating and organising the layout of structures. You will also need to have a good concept of space, good drawing abilities, good maths and geometry as lots of calculations will be involved, knowledge of technicalities such as plumbing or electrics is also a bonus. Finally you will need a good awareness of the needs of others (for example handicapped people, the elderly or children).
