Environment & Biology Back
Environmental and biological sciences are closely linked. Jobs in this sector involve working with nature, animals and/ or humans at some level: you may work with animals or plants as a source of food or materials (milk, wool, leather, rubber, etc.), for example farming; you may do research into how to improve the environment, for example Oceanography could be used to study how to prevent pollution and sea animals from becoming extinct; you may work with the genetic and biological makeup of nature, for example biotechnology; you may want to work as a forest ranger managing wildlife and humans wanting to visit natural areas; Finally you may want to work as a geographer (studying the physical nature of the planet and human activity in relation to this), geologist (studying the earth and land itself) or meteorologist (studying the weather).

In all of these areas you will need to have a keen interest in the environment around us and in living creatures. There are many evolving areas, jobs and ideas in the Environmental and Biological Sciences sector. There are also many ethical jobs that give you a chance to do something for yourself, for others and for our planet. For example organic farming gives people healthy food, prevents pollution and makes sure animals and wildlife are not so affected by human activity.
