The service sector is a vast area including a wide diversity of professions, all involving providing some form of assistance or service to people.
To work in this sector you generally need to be an outgoing and confident person who enjoys being with and meeting new people, helping them and providing them with the best service. While being friendly, you will also need to be polite and very patient and tolerant of others and their wishes, however strange these may be! You will be working as part of a team, yet have your own responsibilities. You may well need some specialised training in reception work, human resources, or your specialized area such as events management, cooking or haircutting. Finally you will need to be willing to work strange hours; especially when you start in this sector, you may end up working weekends, early morning or late evening or night shifts.
