Carrie was born in Boston but grew up in Oakland, California and has always been passionate about creative pursuits, reading, and engaging in the local community. She graduated from Tufts University in 2016 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Art History. However, her senior year of college she took multiple psychology classes and realized her true passion was mental health advocacy. She moved to Chicago in 2017 to serve with City Year Chicago, where she completed her first year of AmeriCorps and worked in the Bronzeville neighborhood in a 5th grade classroom. She was inspired by her first year of national service and wanted to continue her work with Chicago's youth, so Y.O.U. was a natural next step. Her aspiration is to return to school next fall and pursue a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. She also really hopes to adopt her own dog sometime soon.
