April Langworthy

April serves as the Executive Director of Out-of-School-Time Programs.

April has been working in youth development, education, and arts learning programs for most of her career.  She believes that Out of School Time program opportunities are essential for young people, preparing them for continued learning, work and life.  She is driven to create spaces where they can engage with adults and peers who will support them in this journey and guide them to find their own personal voice.

In her previous role at Columbia College Chicago, she was pivotal in establishing successful Community Schools, Out of School time programs and other community engagement projects. Under her leadership, these programs were recognized and chosen for several honors including a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award (given by First Lady Michelle Obama) and a Dimon Distinguished Community Schools in Illinois Award.  She holds a Master of Education Degree from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Theatre Education from Illinois State University.  Other experience includes teaching College-level acting and directing courses, school/program improvement, professional development, teaching artistry, and work as a classroom teacher.

April enjoys singing, learning to play piano (slowly), dabbling in watercolor, gardening and traveling.
