Diverse Communities United (DCU) is Y.O.U.’s youth-led celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annually, young people across Evanston come together to share powerful performances, original artwork, and reflections inspired by our 2026 theme: A Better World Is Possible.

This event is a chance to witness the creativity, courage, and voices of youth as they imagine a brighter, more just future for our community.

What to Expect:

  • Performances by Y.O.U. youth (spoken word, music, dance, storytelling)
  • A curated youth art exhibit connected to this year’s DCU theme
  • Community gathering with families, caregivers, neighbors, and partners
  • A short program highlighting the meaning of DCU and the impact of youth voice

Admission is free, and all are welcome to join in celebrating youth creativity, community strength, and Dr. King’s enduring legacy.
