Y.O.U. Celebrates Lights On Afterschool

When: October 22, 2026 3:00pm

On October 22, Y.O.U. (Youth Organizations Umbrella) will join communities across the country in celebrating LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL, a nationwide event recognizing the vital role afterschool programs play in the lives of young people.

Throughout the afternoon, Y.O.U. youth will take part in light-themed projects that encourage creativity, reflection, and connection. With support from Y.O.U.’s Program Team, youth will also have the opportunity to reflect on what having a dedicated afterschool space means to them and how it supports their growth, learning, and sense of belonging.

Afterschool programs provide more than a place to go when the school day ends. They offer young people opportunities to explore their interests, build relationships, develop new skills, and feel supported by a caring community. LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL shines a spotlight on the importance of making these opportunities accessible to all youth. At Y.O.U., we’re proud to celebrate the spaces, relationships, and experiences that help young people thrive.

This October 22, we’ll recognize the positive impact of afterschool programs and the bright futures they help make possible.
