Dori Franck

Dori Franck.jpgDori recently retired after a teaching career spanning over 40 years. She began in East Moline and spent the next three decades at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, where she taught in the Social Studies department. She also supported students at the Glenbrook evening school in completing their high school diplomas and later spent eight years teaching at Roycemore School in Evanston. Her doctoral dissertation, Teaching Empathy for the Military Experience to High School Students, reflects her commitment to using education as a tool for building understanding.

Dori has served as an adjunct professor and Field Experience Coordinator at Concordia University, taught in Northwestern University’s CTD program, and is currently a Northwestern University Supervisor for student teachers. She has authored numerous curriculum course guides, served on editorial boards for psychology texts, was selected as an AP Advocate for the State of Illinois, co-founded Glenbrook Student Assistance Program for students at risk, was a member of GBN Advisory Board for sexual harassment, advised class boards including fund raising, served as a mentor for novice teachers, and led peer group trainings in advising and counseling.

Dori looks forward to joining the Y.O.U. Board, as supporting and empowering young people has always been a passion of hers.
